Pike Bay Township Board of Levy Meeting following Board of Audit Meeting February 7, 2017 Board Members Present: Tony South, Richard Baird, Linda Barsness, Jason Ball, Arvin Gieske, Mary Almendinger Call to order: Tony South called meeting to order at 7:47 PM. 100- General Government - The only plans for expenditures in this fund is regularly scheduled maintenance. 201- Fire - The Fire Board approved a 2018 budget resulting in an increase to the Pike Bay levy. The levy for this fund is proposed to be set at $32,000.00. 201- Roads & Bridge – We have built a reserve in this fund for planned graveling of the roads, depending on cycle approved by road Supervisors and annual crack sealing of our black top surfaces. Tom’s harbor road is in need of major repair and possibly a resurface depending on severity of problems. Long term goals are to pave Newstrand road and possibly the road we share with Farden Township. 210- Building - The only anticipated major expenses include the annual floor refinish. Once the snow is gone we will look at the outside condition of the building and see about any caulking around windows and doors and condition of roof shingles. We could consider some upgrading and maintenance on the interior of the building. 212- Police - The police department will receive $32,781 in 2017 for the last year of COPS funding. $18,134 will be billed to the school district for the second half of their expense for the 2017/2018 school year. Police State Aid application has been submitted and an estimate of $15,000 to $20,000 is anticipated. Enbridge funding is still pending to assist with the purchase of a replacement police vehicle. Because the township will assume expenses for the SRO position in 2018, it is asked that the 2018 Police Levy amount be approved for $160,000. Should a new COPS grant application come available, I would seek approval to apply.
