Pike Bay Township February 12, 2019 Regular Monthly Meeting / 7PM Richard Baird called the meeting to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Old Business: Update regarding unpaid withholding taxes and failure to submit reports. Office of the State Auditor turned over the charges regarding misuse of public funds by the former Township Clerk, Matt Erickson; to the Cass County Attorney. I reported to State Auditor the measures we have taken to correct this. Joseph Fowler will follow up and push for the invoice for the Road Vacation to be paid by the 15th or sooner. The Federal shut down did affect some capital expenditures. New Business: Kirk Titus, Cass County Land Department, discussed 3 parcels that he requests be turned over to be taxed parcels. A motion to authorize the three parcels to be put up for sale by Linda Barsness, Michael Reyes second, carried. Motion to pass Resolution 2019-012 designating authority to exercise the powers regarding depository funds, pass Resolution for River Wood Bank CD account to add Richard Baird, add Richard Baird to First National Bank CD account and pass Resolutions to include signers on Western Bank accounts by Michael Reyes, Reuben St. Cyr second, carried. New Business continued: Motion to approve Pay Equity Report by Richard Baird, Michael Reyes second, carried. Spring Short Courses will be held Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019 at Bemidji Sanford Center. A must-have class for ALL officers that have not attended previously. Refer to MN Township Insider for more information. A motion to approve board members to attend Spring Short Courses by Linda Barsness, Michael Reyes second, carried. Motion to accept addition of CD from Western Bank Duluth to Board of Audit Report by Michael Reyes, Linda Barsness second, carried. Correspondence: Cass County Land Department seeking authorization for the sale of parcels. Crisis Line and Referral Service requesting donations. Letter sent. Faith In Action for Cass County requesting donations. Letter sent. Emergency Management Training notice from Cass County Sheriff Office. Cass County Highway Department Information Meeting Agenda County Assessor Board of Appeal & Equalization Meeting scheduled for Monday, April 15, 2019 at 10 am. Cass County Museum Newsletter MN Mississippi River Parkway Commission Project letter. Cass County Emergency Operations Plan is posted in Clerk’s office. Financial Report: February disbursements for Checks #14923 thru #14960 and 3 electronic transfers totaling $35,701.93. These figures include the end of month payroll for January, and mid-January for the Police officers, and the bills that were received through 2/12/2019. Road Report: Richard Baird presented report. There has been a record amount of snow removal this month. Fire Department Meeting Report: Michael Reyes presented report. There is a 2% increase in this year’s budget. More attention will be addressed to watch how fires are labelled for location. Fire Department is looking to purchase a Rescue Truck in the future. Grants are being pursued to obtain a ladder truck in the future. Clerk Report: No updates with tax attorney. Met with MN Association of Townships trainer to clean up chart of accounts. Large number of account numbers were added that should not have been and caused problems with the report to the State Auditor. Discovered error in FICA withheld for Nina Burnett and Mary Almendinger. Worked with Miller McDonald to file corrected W-2 and file and pay corrected quarterlies. Attended Clerk training in St. Michael on January 10th, 2019. Submitted information to PERA for new police officer and new supervisors. Submitted New Hire Report for new police officer and new supervisors. Verified Employment Eligibility on Form I-9. Set up payroll for new employees. Posted and Published Notices for Board of Audit and Board of Levy.
