Board of Levy Meeting Minutes
Pike Bay Township February 5, 2018 following Board of Audit Chair, Tony South called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. Board Members Present: Jason Ball, Linda Barsness, Milt Lee, Richard Baird, Tony South, Arvin Gieseke, Mary Almendinger Guests Present: Nancy Foster 100- General Government - The only plans for expenditures in this fund is regularly scheduled maintenance. The levy for this fund is proposed to be set at $40,000.00. 201- Fire - The Fire Board approved a 2018 budget; however it will not result in an increase to the Pike Bay levy. The levy for this fund is proposed to be set at $32,000.00. 201- Roads & Bridge – We have built a reserve in this fund for planned graveling of the roads, depending on cycle approved by road Supervisors and annual crack sealing of our black top surfaces. Tom’s harbor road is in need of major repair and possibly a resurface depending on severity of problems. Long term goals are to pave Newstrand road and possibly the road we share with Farden Township. The levy for this fund is proposed to be set at $42,000.00. 210- Building - The only planned expenditures will be for general maintenance and soffit and facia repair. Inspect the outside condition of the building and see about any caulking around windows and doors and condition of roof shingles. The levy for this fund is proposed to be set at $14,000.00. 212- Police - The police department will receive approximately $190,000.00 from property tax dollars, TZD dollars, fines and forfeitures, state aid, and school resource officer funding. Police State Aid application has been submitted and an estimate of $20,000 or more is anticipated. Enbridge donated funds to assist with the purchase of a replacement police vehicle. It is asked that the 2019 Police Levy amount be approved for $160,000. Any new grant applications would be submitted. Motion to approve the 2019 Levy by Richard Baird, Milt Lee second, carried.
